Erickka’s professional writing journey began with Bitches Brew, a relationship column for Trace magazine that chronicled her life as a model dating in New York City in the ’90s. She went on to write personal essays, opinion pieces, lifestyle features, celebrity profiles, and more for magazines and digital outlets including Essence, Ebony, MadameNoire, Uptown, SheKnows, and more.
Erickka later served as Managing Editor of CurlyNikki.com, and she was a communications consultant for the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health. A few years ago, she wrote, directed, and co-produced Rylie and Codie’s World, a web series about two young Harlem sisters pursuing their dance dreams. The show was picked up by streaming network Tenoir TV. Her writing can also be seen on the Sidra Smith-produced drama series A Luv Tale, now streaming on Prime Video.
Today, Erickka continues telling stories through The Brew Is Back, her podcast now relaunching LIVE from Toledo, where she recently returned. (Much of Erickka’s writing online can be found under her former last name: Sy Savane)
